It is an absolute delight to be able to do what I love!
Creating a commissioned painting, piece of fine art furniture, historical mural or any other type of decorative focal point is largely an intuitive process that comes from "within" and is derived by being observant about my customers likes and dislikes, their decor, attention to detail, what inspires them and what type of "feeling" they wish to convey.
It is my job to translate all of the unspoken, deeply felt, intangible thoughts into a tangible "alive" work that remains fresh and wonderful from year to year.
My work has covered everything from "Trompe l'oeil" (fool the eye) murals, "Grisaille" - which translates to "shades of grey" or tone on tone murals), historical and pictoral works, panorama's with sweeping vistas, floral and garden murals, murals featuring people, waterscapes, landscapes, nautical themed murals, opulent finishes, gilded plasters and so much more.
In addition to all these, I have extensive experience in historically accurate hand painted "period" detailing, water gilding, architectural gilding and painted works reminiscent of the murals found in the opulent homes of the Greek Revival, Federal and Georgian era, as well as other Classical styles of yester-year.
I am inspired by French Scenic Wallpapers, Chinoiserie and other decorative art papers and silks from years past.
Several of the Grand Historic Homes that feature my work have been on the renowned and prestigious "Historic Garden Week in Virginia" tour, in during years 2001 - 2010. Several other notable properties that were invited to be on the tour during 2006 and 2007, but declined for privacy reasons, also include numerous rooms each of my work. I have been a hostess for past tours as well.
Since 2008, I have been a contributing writer for several local, regional and national publications.
Being made in the image of God, we all have an inborn need to create something truly wonderful and to surround ourselves with beauty.
Bibliography : I have written so many articles I cannot list them all. I have also been the subject of numerous articles as well - all of which are not listed due to space.
