I am currently updating my website with new art, hardboard placemats, beautiful notecards and paypal icons - for easy purchasing. During the week of May 1, 2012 - I will begin uploading hardboard placemats to my placemats, notecards and painting page!
Good Day!

Thank you for visiting my website which contains original paintings and prints for sale as well as a portfolio of my mural, portrait, trompe l'oeil, furniture, hardboard placemats  and gilded commissions through the years.

Having spent most of my life in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia and  Southern Maryland , the rich history, iconic architecture, culture, maritime icons, small towns and grand hospitality have permeated my life and artwork.

As a self- taught artist - I am versatile in watercolor, oils and acrylic.  Color and balance is a strong element found in my work, as well as serendipity, which runs the gamut between life sized birds and animals that include fool the eye surroundings to historically and architecturally accurate illustrations and paintings.

The following pages showcase my original paintings and prints, Chesapeake Bay Lighthouse prints, Nautical prints, Historic Icon prints, Animal Portraiture, Birds (which I find utterly fascinating), Historical themed murals and so much more.

My original collection of hardboard and gilded edge cork backed placemats are also available for purchase in a variety of original art motifs for the  casual and well appointed table.   New designs are being added continually.   These placemats are cork backed, made in the USA in my own Virginia studio.  They are beautifully made with cork backing to protect your table, sealed edges and a have a durable laminate that can standup to daily use.  These placemats will not fade and are made using non-toxic elements.   I believe that products made in the U.S.A. are the best products in the world.

Future  Paypal Icons will make purchasing my art originals, art prints, posters and placemats easy and secure.

Dealer and Corporate Inquiries are also welcomed!

Custom Murals Are also Available - See the before and after photos of this lovely mural, painted on canvas and installed at the site.  The John Smith Shallop is shown in this mural as it moored at the marina next door during the Jamestowne 400 celebration - which retraced Captain John Smith's visit to Tappahannock - over 400 years ago!

This mural features a view of the Downing Bridge as well as a host of butterflies, cherry blossoms and more!  Although the photos are lovely - they cannot compare with the actual artwork itself!

The English Setter portrait below is painted in oils on canvas.  This particular dog lived to point and pointed anywhere - anytime - He loved the snow.  His name was Opus One of Piscataway.  We called him "Opie".  He was bred by Bob Erickson of Essex County, Virginia.

Pheasant seen in Essex County, VA on the grounds of Ben Lomond a historic property here. It was a rare sight indeed. Painted this from memory.
Pheasant at the edge of the wood - almost finished!
I believe that we are all born with the need and desire to appreciate all things lovely and to create something that endures in a meaningful way.   As an artist I have experienced this first hand.  As a writer I have come to KNOW that everyone has their own unique story to tell.

May we all dare to follow our dreams and live out the life we have been given with great joy and no regrets.  The creation of something wonderful that is cherished by others is its own reward.

For many of us, the last few years have been challenging to say the least.
Certainly, all of us in one way or another have felt the pinch of uncertain economic times.  Join me as  we look up in a spirit of gratefulness for all that we have, all that we are and for all of the dreams and ideas within us that are yet to be fulfilled. . .in their own good time.    Success is assured if we do not grow weary and loose heart.
